How SMS Messaging Works Within the Platform

Edited

My client seems really afraid of SMS messages, why?

At the root of the issue is compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), failure to comply with this could result in steep fines of $500-$1500 per call. Given this, their concerns make perfect sense. It is important to let them know that where the platform uses SMS, we comply strictly and conservatively with TCPA.

The platform only sends text messages to visitors that have expressly requested to receive them and only with information directly related to that request for short periods of time.

How does the platform use SMS

The above diagram outlines the SMS process used by the platform. Whether shoppers are engaged by SMS for an offer, 1 tap lead, or watch list subscription. The platform will not message them for any reason except for as a direct 1-1 response for information.

  • In all cases, we are responding to a request initiated by the customer.

Text Messaging Disclaimers + Opt Outs

The first section of the disclaimer is related to the offer itself, the second paragraph in the disclaimer informs the consumer of exactly the messaging they are agreeing to receive by contacting us.

Finally, after the visitor texts us. We let them know again that they can opt out by sending STOP at any time. In the event that we receive a STOP message from a customer, they will receive the following message:

You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.

Once they reply STOP we will never text them on the customers behalf again, for any reason, unless they re-subscribe with the START keyword.

And if they were to reply with START they would receive:

You have successfully been re-subscribed to messages from this number. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.
